A doula is a non-medical trained professional. A doula provides you with so many outlets of continuous support. From emotional support with meditations to informational support with resources galore, a doula's job is to be there in a genuine and compassionate way.
Why worry about feeling unsure in birthing decisions and like your voice doesn't matter? IT DOES!
As a birth doula, I will provide you with judgment free guidance. It is my passion to help you understand what is going on inside of your body. I will massage your pain away while reassuring you of how strong you are. I promise to set your birthing partner up for success by motivating them in times of exhaustion and guiding them in deep breaths with you. If they need a break at any point, I will stay by your side while they get some fresh air or a meal. It is my goal to make sure you and your birthing partner feel comfortable, safe and advocated for. Your pregnancy and birth are life changing, not only are you birthing a baby, you're rebirthing yourselves, as well. The lights will be dim, there will be soft music played and LED candles all around the space. I provide you with an eye mask to sleep with no distractions, and lavender to help calm and relax you. We will go over laboring positions, as well as, gather information on what your birth preferences may be. As your birth doula, I thrive to help you remember why you are birthing this beautiful human.
As a post partum doula, I am so excited to walk this path of parenthood with you. We will focus on bonding with your baby in gentle ways and getting into the new transitions that come with being a parent. Bringing you flowers to stare at while breastfeeding can make all the difference in boosting your energy levels. Cooking warming and nourishing meals to help your body heal is a top priority. Knowing that you can talk and ask questions at any point during our time together is essential in growing as a team. I want you to take naps and take showers without a human attached to you. I want you to feel like a powerful human again. I will go out in public with you for the first few times so you don't have to face the world alone. I want you to know I am a trusted, safe space and that you are capable of being a person who thrives with your child(ren).

As a postpartum doula myself, I knew I needed support when my third baby arrived. Thank goodness for Meg! She was kind and eager to help. She did everything I asked of her and more. From ensuring I got rest and a shower or bath, to bathing my baby, to herbal treatments. She was there to answer questions and listen when I needed to talk.

It was sad once our time together was done because I valued her time and support so much. I would highly recommend Meg again and again. - Sushannah K.
Why Should I Hire A Birth Doula?
The presence of a doula benefits everyone involved in your pregnancy and labor. Invest in your baby. This decision involves birthing your baby, yes, but rebirthing you, and your partner as parents. This is one of the biggest milestones you will come across, make it count by having someone who will help you make informed choices. A doula's guidance can assist you with a shorter labor, less use of epidurals, lower episiotomy rates and a decrease in cesarean sections, as well. A doula will be there to give your partner and family a break when needed and to educate them on ways to massage and nurture the mama.
I can just have my mom or family come and help me after the baby is born, why do I need a postpartum doula?
It is wonderful to have as much support as possible after your baby is born. Your family can be great assets to your fourth trimester, but a doula is there to keep you educated and provide you with newborn tips, community and ways of healing your body. You may have different views on how you want to raise your baby and there are gentle ways to advocate for yourself. A doula is devoted to your healing process and checking in on your baby's cues and how to read them.
Will a doula advocate for me?
Yes and no. A doula will meet with you to learn your wishes about your birth, and if one of those wishes is being threatened, a doula will help you make the best choice for yourself by using BRAIN--what are the benefits of this?, what are the risks? the alternatives? what is your intuition telling you? and what if we do nothing? A doula will remind you of why you wanted your options in your birth preferences and help you feel empowered enough to advocate for yourself.
What is your style as a doula?
I am a very nurturing and will provide you with a sense of calm anytime you need me to. I love to be as hands on as you will let me. Massaging your face, all the way to your feet. Taking deep breaths with you as your contractions come on strong. Focusing on relaxation and how it benefits you as an individual will help you have a labor that makes you feel empowered. Your birth and postpartum goals are my goals. I am behind you 100%
How early should I hire a birth doula and what services do they provide during pregnancy?
It is never too early to hire a doula. Prenatal visits include getting to know each other, discussing birth wishes, stages of labor, when to call your doula, going over labor positions and postpartum planning.
Does the doula replace the father or partner?
The doula does not replace anyone. A doula is another member of your birth team, another guide. A doula shows partners how to do massages and what pressure points may feel good during labor. Most partners are grateful to have had an experienced doula by their side so they can enjoy the birth experience more.
